It’s not the destination, it’s the journey, somebody once said. Well, when it comes to Aviemore we think it’s both because the journey there is much easier (and faster) than you might think and once you’re there… well, those landscapes do the talking!
If your client wants a memorable setting for their event, the Macdonald Aviemore Resort has one of the most unique locations in the UK and here’s to get there.
#1 Fly
The resort lies in the Cairngorms National Park and the nearest airport is Inverness. The picturesque transfer takes 45 minutes and can be arranged for you by the events team. Inverness has daily flights from most UK regional airports including London Heathrow, London City, Luton, Birmingham, Belfast and Manchester. There are also daily international flights most of the year from Dublin and Amsterdam. Door-to-door from Heathrow takes around the same time as the journey from Central London to Central Manchester by train.
#2 Take the train
Aviemore Railway Station is situated opposite the resort and is well connected to the Scottish rail network with good access to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Adventurous groups can also take the Caledonian Sleeper which departs London Euston late evening and arrives in Aviemore in time for your morning coffee. The Caledonian Sleeper has recently been repositioned as an upscale sleeper service, with the private and twin en-suite carriages boasting rain showers and luxury bed linen.
#3 Drive
For those arriving by car, the resort has ample free parking. This method is only practical for delegates arriving from Scotland (drive time from Edinburgh is around 2.5 hours), but if you are arriving by car and you’re tying in a little bleisure, you might like to know that Aviemore is just a short ride from the North Coast 500 – Scotland’s very own Route 66!
