Yes, Amsterdam has a beach and no, we’re not talking about Noordwijk!
IJmuiden is less than 30 minutes from the airport, so you can leave London early in the morning and be breathing in the fresh sea air well before lunchtime.
We recommend the beachside Leonardo Hotel IJmuiden Seaport Beach for corporate groups who want to include some unique team activities because there are a couple of really great things you can do here.
First up, you can organise plenty of activities on the beach including land sailing (just beware it can get VERY windy!).
But the real gem is Forteiland Ijmuiden, a former German sea defence that formed part of the Atlantic Wall. This impressive man-made island is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site and can host team-building events and private dinners in its dining hall and armouries.
IJmuiden’s proximity to Amsterdam means that just like in the Veluwe, you can plan an entire event here or include a night or two here as part of a broader itinerary.
It’s also just down the road from Zandvoort, home of the Dutch Grand Prix taking place 3rd – 5th September 2021.
